Cabo Horn 40
This modern design is a good choice for any one who wants to live aboard
or to sail long distances.
The Cape Horn 40 is a very strong boat thanks to her cold molded wooden
construction reinforced by 22 laminated frames and an impressive keel backbone.
But despite so much strenght, the wood-epoxy construction allows for a
long lasting moderately light hull.
Nothing matches wood in appearance and this boat gives all the opportunities
for a superb joiner work and the cosy inside lay-out bring a great sensation
of comfort and elegance.
We provide the Cape Horn 40 with three separate cabins and two bathrooms,
one of them, at the aft owners cabin,
en suite. Doing so, five
persons sleep in comfort and privacy and when required two more may sleep
in the main saloon. Behind the dinette area an U shaped galley gives
excellent protection for the cook when in bad weather. To starboard,
a large navigation station with an optional inside steering wheel gives
the opportunity to provide the most efficient installation for all the
electronic gear desirable. A cabin trunk with a doghouse with plenty
of windows allows for inside steering, a virtue seldom found in cruising
yachts of this size. The shallow trunk in front of the dog-house
gives adequate head-room in the front cabins and at the same time improves
safety when going forward in bad weather thanks to the firm support for
the foot in any angle of heel.
With a sloop rig, a good sized balanced helm, and a relatively shallow
draft bulbous keel, the Cape Horn 40 is a great performer in all conditions,
concerning speed, steering control and seaworthiness.
For this size of boat there are few others that can compare with the
Cape Horn 40, and for most of their owners, being them novices or
old salts, this is the boat of their lives.
