POP 20

  • Full size patterns for bulkheads, stem and casting mould for the fin keel.
  • Flush deck and flat vertical transom.
  • Four berths, being the forward one a double berth.
  • the Pop 20 is fast and easy to sail

This is the ideal do it yourself boat. Even for a beginner, the Pop 20 is easy to build. The completed boat is such a good sailer that who ever builds one of these crafts is in a short time a firm supporter of her class.

We intended to design a small coastal cruiser for the young with limited funds and little experience. Even though, we provided the design with a very comfortable interior for its size. There is a double berth forward, with a toilet underneath, separated from the after side by a structural bulkhead, which is also the mast support. Behind this bulkhead are placed two counters with stove and sink. Two very comfortable bunks complete the inside layout. The flush deck makes the Pop 20 extremely easy to build and helps to give the boat a streamlined silhouette.

Whilst sailing, this little cruiser shows many virtues. Her almost neutral helm, allied to good sailing lines, explains the quick acceleration when the wind increases. The good responsiveness of the rudder and her small size are an invitation to explore gunk-holes. And if she ever gets aground, in most cases, all that is required to get away is to move weight to leeward and decrease draft.

Although these boats are only coastal cruisers, many owners use them as authentic open water sailers, some of them even planning long distance voyages.

The success of this project surprised our staff. People who had acquired the plans to build her came back to our office a short time after to praise the great qualities of the boat. And the fleet hasn`t stopped increasing in numbers.
